103rd anniversary of Goce Delcev's death
Macedonia will observe on Thursday the 103rd anniversary of the death of Macedonian revolutionary Goce Delcev, one of the most striking figures of the Macedonia national liberation movement and one of the founders of VMRO. Delcev was killed on 4 May 1903 in the village Banica, Aegean Macedonia. He died just few months before the Ilinden uprising that paved the way to Krusevska Republika - the first republic in the Balkan. A number of dignitaries and prominent personalities will place wreath at Goce Delvev's grave at Sveti Saps church in Skopje. In the course of events marking the anniversary, the special state award "Goce Delvev" will be handed over to authors of scientific works of state interest. This year's winners of Goce Delcev award are Aleksandar Ancevski, Gorgi Gocev, Ljubica Pavlova and Neda Pertova, Ljupco Ristevski, Agim Poljoski and Ilija Velev. The awarding ceremony will take place Thursday noon at parliament chamber. |
