Ten years of assassination attempt on President Kiro Gligorov

Ten years of assassination attempt on the first Macedonian President Kiro Gligorov are marked Monday.
Gligorov survived the assassination with serious head injuries. His driver Aleksandar Spirovski was killed in the attack, while Gligorov's bodyguard Ilco Teovski was injured.
The organizers of the assassination are still unknown. The investigation against unknown executor is still open. The investigation confirmed that the assassination was well organized and it was just a happy coincidence that Kiro Gligorov survived the assassination.
On October 3, 1995, around 9:45 AM, an attempt on the life of the Macedonian President Kiro Gligorov, was made. His motor vehicle was damaged by a car bomb activated in the vicinity of the "Bristol Hotel" as the vehicle was passing. Several citizens were injured and considerable damage was done to the houses in the vicinity. |
